Great question! Our Rebates page includes the most up-to-date information on all of our rebates, including expiration dates where applicable. We do our best to inform community partners in advance of any changes to our rebates. Sign up for our community partner email newsletter to receive the latest news.
Our Rebates page is a one-stop hub. You can find Efficiency Vermont rebates as well as rebates from our partners.
That’s so kind of you! To determine rebate eligibility, we collect customer information like location and household income. Unfortunately, as a regulated utility, we are prohibited from discussing customer information with anyone besides the customer. You can encourage them to schedule a Virtual Home Energy Visit or to reach out to us directly.
Yes! Municipalities and nonprofits are often eligible for rebates listed in the “business” section of our Rebates page.
Each of our rebate pages includes step-by-step instructions on how to redeem it. On that page, you’ll also see eligibility criteria and any other relevant information like qualifying products. Most of our rebates are reimbursements: You’ll receive a check after the project is complete. We also offer low- or no-cost financing to help make projects more affordable.
Most of Efficiency Vermont's work is funded through the Energy Efficiency Charge that Vermont households and businesses pay on their monthly electric bills. Investing in efficiency is a more cost-effective alternative to generating and delivering more electricity. This helps keep electricity rates and bills lower. Thanks to Efficiency Vermont, Vermont’s electric bills are around 25% lower than the New England average. Because we are a regulated utility, everything we do must be approved by the Public Utility Commission.
The best way to get started is to contact us. Whether you’re a nonprofit, a business, a municipality, or just an interested citizen, our team of energy advisors can help you get connected with the information you need. You can also schedule a Virtual Home Energy Visit or a Business Consultation to learn more about specific ways to save energy and money in your space.
Great question! Efficiency Vermont provides free virtual home energy assessments, which are a great starting point for anyone wanting to learn more about their energy usage. During the visit, which typically lasts 90 minutes, an Efficiency Vermont energy expert will assess the home via video chat or over the phone. The goal is to help identify where the home might be losing energy, and then provide a personalized list of home energy improvements. Renters and homeowners can sign up for a virtual home energy visit online or by calling our Customer Support team at (888) 921-5990.
An energy audit is a more comprehensive assessment completed by a third-party contractor. Sometimes an energy audit is required before accessing one of our larger rebates. You can find a list of contractors who offer energy audits by visiting our Find a Pro tool.
We understand that some organizations like Town Energy Committees would like to learn about how many people in their community have participated in energy efficiency projects. Unfortunately, as a regulated utility, Efficiency Vermont cannot share confidential customer data with anyone besides the customer. However, we do have an annual statewide report on program participation by town. You can request that report from your Community Engagement Manager.
