Through 2023, Efficiency Vermont is partnering with Brattleboro’s local agencies and organizations to bring special energy-saving offers, services, and events to help the community save energy and live, work, and play more comfortably. Brattleboro has a vibrant downtown focused on revitalization. The Multicultural Community Center that helps welcome new American families is the largest refugee center in the state. The Elnu Abenaki Tribe has been in the Brattleboro region for 12,000 years. The renter population is estimated to be over 50%, and the state's largest mobile home park is located in Brattleboro. Housing costs make up more than 50% of income for 22% of Brattleboro households.
Historically, renters have been underserved by our programs, and we're working to change that. We don’t have all of the answers, but we believe that the best way to bring equity to energy efficiency programs is through a community-based approach.There are many local partners we hope to collaborate with, to spread the word and connect with community members.
