How it Works

Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for your dealership to sell and lease EVs. When you enroll for free, you unlock a host of exclusive incentives and support from Efficiency Vermont. Here’s what you'll get:

Training and education

  • Free training on EV market trends, customer incentive programs, and more.

Advertising

  • Free listing on Efficiency Vermont’s “Find a Pro” tool
  • Free promotion of EV technology in Efficiency Vermont advertising campaigns
  • Up to $1,500 annually in co-op funding to support EV advertising

Sales incentive

$600 for each new or used EV sold or leased to a Vermont customer (max 50 sales per year or $30,000)

Equipment incentive

We’ll give your dealership up to $25,000 for equipment, tools, and certifications needed to be able to sell and service EVs. New car dealerships can receive 50% back on project costs up to $25,000, and used car dealerships can receive 90% back.

Examples include:

  • Charging stations and installation costs (including electrical infrastructure upgrades)
  • EV-specific tools and equipment like high-voltage digital multimeters, thermal cameras, insulated tool sets, and more
  • Certification costs for dealership staff, like OEM electric vehicle certification
  • Other expenses subject to approval

By enrolling in this program, you’ll become part of the Efficiency Excellence Network (EEN). The EEN is a statewide network of businesses and industry leaders committed to making Vermont more efficient and more affordable. EEN members have access to free technical trainings, project support, and marketing assistance from Efficiency Vermont. You’ll also have access to someone you can call—yes, a real human! —for technical advice.

To enroll in this program and unlock all of the benefits described above, start by filling out this form. You’ll be contacted by an Efficiency Vermont team member to provide additional documentation. Once the paperwork is complete, two dealership staff are required to attend an EV sales training. Then you can start redeeming your incentives!
