Efficiency Vermont named 2014 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year

Burlington, VT

Efficiency Vermont has been named a 2014 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The award honors Efficiency Vermont’s Efficient Products program for its achievements in cutting energy use and associated pollution. Efficiency Vermont was one of only eight utilities nationwide to receive the Partner of the Year designation.

“Efficiency Vermont stood out among a highly competitive pool as demonstrating exemplary commitment and dedication, distinguishing them as an industry leader,” said Ann Bailey, Chief, ENERGY STAR Product Labeling. “Efficiency Vermont’s significant accomplishments demonstrate that improved energy efficiency can benefit American consumers and protect the environment at the same time.”

Efficiency Vermont’s Efficient Products program provides technical, financial, and informational services for retailers and consumers to help Vermonters to lower their utility bills with ENERGY STAR qualified lighting, electronics, and appliances. These services were part of Efficiency Vermont’s overall efforts in 2013 that helped more than 40,000 households to save as much electricity, combined, as it takes to power every home in Caledonia County for nearly 11 months. In 2013, roughly 13% Vermont’s electric supply needs were met through energy efficiency.

“We are deeply honored by this recognition from the EPA,” said Lara Bonn, Efficient Products Program Manager for Efficiency Vermont. “The credit for any success on our part goes to the Vermonters who choose energy saving products for their homes - and to the committed retail and manufacturer partners who work with us to make sure that their customers have access to the most efficient ENERGY STAR labeled products on the market.”

Efficiency Vermont will be recognized in Washington, D.C. at a ceremony on April 29th. ENERGY STAR is a program of the EPA and the U.S. Department of Energy, providing efficiency standards and partnering with 16,000 efficient product, service, and program providers nationwide.
