Targeted Communities Program Update

New 2020 Communities

The Targeted Communities Selection Committee has chosen four new communities for 2020: Irasburg, Johnson, Island Pond, and Barre City. Dedicated community managers are working with key stakeholders in each community to craft programs designed to accelerate energy efficiency measures and reduce the energy burden for residents and local community businesses. If you work in any of these four communities and would like to be a part of the effort, or if you have ideas for the 2020 program, please contact Michelle McCutcheon-Schour at [email protected].

About the Program

The Efficiency Vermont Targeted Communities program began in 2016 with the goal of bringing energy efficiency to the forefront of community awareness, particularly for those communities with high energy burdens. To date, this program has worked closely with local and statewide partners in 15 communities to execute a number of initiatives, including outreach and education campaigns, small business energy upgrades, residential home consultations, municipal building energy improvements, high-efficiency LED streetlight conversions, and energy efficiency upgrades for community-based nonprofit organizations.
