New! Increased incentives

We recently increased almost all of the standard farm rebates—reducing the purchasing cost of efficient equipment and lighting by as much as 25-50%. As always, you can go right to your regular vendor for incentivized equipment and lighting.

Here are some of the energy-efficient farm equipment and lighting we recommend:

Proper ventilation in greenhouses and barns is important to maintaining good air quality for the health of the animals or plants within, and the people who work there.

Heat Recovery Units

Using waste heat from the milk bulk tank compressor to pre-heat water, heat recovery units can reduce hot water expenses by up to 50%. Most dairy farms with 35 cows or more can benefit.

Plate Coolers

This set of stainless steel plates uses cold well water to pre-cool milk before it goes into a bulk tank. Plate coolers can help dairy farms, with more than 75 cows, save up to 50% on milk-cooling costs.

Variable Speed Milk Transfer Systems (VSMT)

A VSMT consists of a variable speed pump and controller that regulates or slows down the milk flow through the plate cooler. A VSMT system can result in milk that is the same temperature as the farm’s well water (an average of 50 degrees). The milk then goes into the bulk tank and is mechanically cooled down by compressors to 38 degrees. These systems are usually cost-effective for dairy farms with 75 cows or more.

Milk Vacuum Pump Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) Controllers

VFDs control milk vacuum pump motors by varying the speed in line with the load, while maintaining the necessary vacuum levels for milking. Dairy farms with 50 cows or more could save 40-55% of milk vacuum pump costs by using VFD controls.

Maple Sap Vacuum Pumps Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) Controllers

Many maple sugaring operations run sap vacuum pumps 24 hours per day during the sugaring season. One way to minimize the pump’s electrical use is by adding a VFD control system. The controller can then adjust the pump motor speed according to the load.

Efficient Compressors

Opportunities for saving money exist in almost every compressed air system, by detecting leaks, adjusting controls, and upgrading inefficient equipment.

Lighting in barns is key to maintaining a safe work environment. It can also make for more effective veterinary visits, increase milk production, and higher breeding success rates.

Vapor proof fixtures keep out moisture, dust, and bugs, and can be hosed down for cleaning – extending the life and quality of your lighting system, and reducing maintenance costs.

High Performance T8 Flourescent Fixtures (Vapor Proof)

Many farmers are moving from incandescent, metal halide, and high-pressure sodium bulbs to high-performance T8s. They provide better light quality and use 35-50% less energy than older T12 technology and can last 1.5 times as long, which means less money spent on replacements and maintenance.

T5 High-Output Flourescent Fixtures (Vapor Proof)

The same benefits as T8s, but a bit brighter for areas that require more illumination.

LED screw-based bulbs

Built to fit a standard light bulb fixture, these can last 25 times longer than incandescents and save you $54 in energy over the life of the bulb. They work well in outdoor temperatures and their longer life saves time and money.

LED Outdoor Wall-Mounted Area Fixtures

Can save up to 80% over incandescent bulbs, and more than 50% compared with fluorescent or high-intensity discharge (HID). They also last 10-25 times as long, are more directional, meaning less light pollution, and better illumination where you need it most. They also operate well in cold weather.
