LIGHTS

Turn them off when you're not around, and let windows provide light wherever possible.
Use timers - and keep them properly set (i.e. no outside lights during the day).
Replace incandescent bulbs with ENERGY STAR^®fluorescent bulbs.
Use LED lamps for exit signs instead of incandescents.
Replace T-12 fixtures with T-8s and electronic ballasts.
Install occupancy sensors to shut off lights when rooms are not in use.

HEATING & COOLING

Make sure doors and windows have tight seals and keep them closed when running your air conditioning system.
Properly insulate all exterior walls, ceilings and wall cavities.
Turn off fans when the building is not in use.
Install ENERGY STAR programmable thermostats and locking covers to prevent tampering.
Use ENERGY STAR roofing material with high reflectance.
Check equipment regularly (evaporative coolers, fans, pumps, etc.) for proper operation and maintenance needs.

OFFICE EQUIPMENT

Activate "sleep" mode on computers for highest energy efficiency.
Turn off printers, copiers, coffee machine at the end of the day and desk lamps and fans when not in use.
