Do-It-Yourself Home Energy Improvements
Get started today.
- Call a Home Performance with ENERGY STAR contractor participating in the DIY program.
- Schedule an energy audit for your home. Be home during the audit to follow the contractor and ask questions. (Please note there is a fee for this service.)
- Sign-up for a Weatherization Skillshop in your area. (This step is not required but highly encouraged.)
- After the Weatherization Skillshop, review your energy audit, and get to work!
- To maximize your energy savings and incentive, after you think you have completed all of your air-sealing, schedule your Home Performance with ENERGY STAR contractor for a mid-project inspection to conduct blower door assisted air-sealing.
- Finish & Sign-off: Finish the project according to your contractor's instructions. Your contractor will conduct a final blower door test to measure the improved energy efficiency and will submit your project results to Efficiency Vermont.
- Incentives and tax credits: Your completed project will be eligible to receive up to $2,500 in incentives from Efficiency Vermont. Just sign and return the final incentive report you receive from your contractor. Federal tax credits are also available.
