Weatherization
For qualifying buildings (including tenant income guidelines), a weatherization team will come to your property to perform an energy audit to identify potential improvements in energy efficiency and comfort, as well as provide the renovation construction services from a qualified crew, free of charge or at reduced rates. Weatherization services may include:
- Insulating walls and ceilings.
- Sealing drafts and air leaks around windows and doors.
- Installing energy-efficient light bulbs.
- Replacing old refrigerators with qualifying efficient models.
- Installing water heater jackets, low-flow shower heads, and faucet aerators.
Contact your local weatherization office to see if you're eligible.
Vermont Fuel Efficiency Partnership (VFEP)
For multifamily property owners interested in comprehensive and deep energy retrofits for their buildings, VFEP’s goal is to reduce energy consumption by at least 25% per building through comprehensive building solutions. VFEP begins with the Weatherization program, and uses additional partner funds and technical assistance to assist building owners to achieve deeper energy savings. Property owners are required to make an investment in the property’s energy efficiency upgrades to qualify for VFEP’s project funds.
