Energy Code

The Commercial Building Energy Standards (CBES), also known as the Commercial Energy Code, defines the minimum efficiency requirements for all commercial buildings in Vermont. In 2011, the Vermont Department of Public Service completed an update to this Code, now scheduled to be adopted on October 1, 2011, with an effective date of January 1, 2012.

Until the new code becomes effective, commercial building projects are required to meet the 2005 Vermont Guidelines for Energy Efficient Commercial Construction.
